It’s Just Not Christmas Without….

Everyone has their traditions, a collection of little things that make the holiday season perfect.  For me, it’s just not Christmas without a movie marathon. On Christmas day, while we’re opening presents and cooking dinner I’ll have my dvd player working overtime. Here’s are a few of the movies that will be entertaining me this year, in no particular order.

White Christmas – I love Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, and Rosemary Clooney.  When I was younger I’d watch this movie over and over and sing along, but then I do that with every musical that I like.  I just love the soundtrack to this movie, it makes me happy.

Home Alone 1 & 2 – I just love these two movies. I think I’m partial to the second movie, Lost in New York.  The beat down that little Kevin gives the two imbecile villains in this one is a riot.

Scrooge – There are many versions of this story but I’m partial to the musical version starring Albert Finney. Yes, I sing along with this one too, folks.  Father Christmas, Father Christmas …

Muppet Christmas Carol – Who doesn’t love a movie full of muppets, music, and comedy? “Light the lamp, not the rat.” – Rizzo the Rat

Scrooged – Bill Murray, Bobcat Golthwaite, and the terrifically funny Carol Kane. It’s such a fun, modern day version of the story.

Last, but certainly not least

Mickey’s Christmas Carol (Anyone sensing a pattern? LOL!) – I just love the A Christmas Carol story in all of it’s variations. Because I’m a rabid Disney fan, this had to be on my list of to watch movies as well. Scrooge McDuck is the perfect Ebeneezer Scrooge. Plus this is always played in conjunction with one of my favorite Goofy cartoon where he’s learning to ski.

So, what’s on your It’s Just Not Christmas Without… list?

  7. Joanne,
I fast forward past that Happiness song that Scrooge’s former finance sings. The scene just breaks my heart every time. Such a great musical.

    • Thanks Rhonda. I’m right there with you on Home Alone 2. I just love that character. Because we’ve watched these movies so much we leave them playing in the background as we go about our day. We’ll stop and watch when a favorite scene comes on.

Sounds like you have a wonderful holiday.

  13. Its not Christmas until you smell the lunch cooking, have the house toasty and family to share it with.

    • I love that too. During the mid cooking breaks we’ll relax in front of the fireplace with a great holiday movie playing and the cooking smells filling the house.

      Thanks for stopping in.

    • A Frank Capra classic. Have you ever seen the remake with Marlo Thomas(I think) and the guy that played Trapper John? I was a role reversal where the female character plays the Jimmy Stewart role.

      Thanks for stopping in.

  19. It’s just not Christmas without watching It’s a Wonderful Life, and A Christmas Story. One makes me grateful for everything and everyone I have, and the other makes me grateful for the way I grew up and that I can laugh at it so hard still 27 years later…well, it just keeps me young inside, hehe.
Thank you so much for participating in this wonderful blog hop and for the generous giveaway!

    Happy Holidays!

    Happy Holidays June!

  26. I’d have to agree it’s just not Christmas without someone to watch those cheesy Christmas movies with whether it be family, S/O, or just close friends, if you can’t have someone to watch at least one Christmas movie and sing at least one song with.

  27. It’s just not Christmas without…fantastic food!

You can tell I’ve been dieting. LOL!

    • I so agree. Where I work there is a steady stream of cookies and cakes and all manner of goodies flooding through the door. Then there are the smells of the food cooking. Love it!

    • That sounds lovely. I love the lights too. One of my favorite places with awesome Christmas lights is Disney World. I’ve done Disney at Christmas a couple of times and bop around the parks singing carols.

Thanks for stopping in and Happy Holidays!

  30. Christmas songs, i love white christmas. 😉 Christmas movies, i have so many favorites; a christmas story, white christmas, polar express, etc. And snow. Its so pretty but cold! 😉 Thanks for the giveaway! Happy holidays!

    • Watching movies in front of the fire while it snows sounds like a lovely way to spend a day to me. Only down side is the shoveling at the end.
